Creating a safe and nurturing space
As a community member, advocate and educator, I have had the amazing opportunity over the years to be a part of significant changes within organizations – from anti-homophobia training for Winnipeg School Division to gaining equal access to marriage and seeing the massive growth of the Pride Festival in Winnipeg to become the largest between Toronto and Vancouver.
December Dilemma
Brad Tyler-WestShould you attend the office party?
This is the time of year when folks at work celebrate the varied reasons for the solstice season. For many of us the decision to attend the office party is complicated. What if you’re closeted at work? Or what if you’re not comfortable sharing your personal life at work? Should you go alone? If you go alone, what does this say about your partner? All of these questions are enough to make us click the “Not able to attend “button!
Dealing with difficult people
If it hasn’t happened already, it is going too. You will find yourself working with a difficult person. When it comes to thriving in the world at work, you have to learn some basic skills in human interaction. These basic skills might be seen to some as common sense. Yet as my grandmother used to say, ”commonsense is not always common practice.”
Connecting conversations
Brad Tyler-WestI love Pride! There is something powerful about community connecting together to celebrate. You get to see all the colours of our personal rainbows plus who doesn’t love a parade?!
